Screwfix
Streamlining the in-store throughput with interactive digital applications
Screwfix is one of the United Kingdom and Ireland’s largest multi-channel retailer of trade tools, accessories and hardware products, with over 700 stores.
the challenge
We were chosen by Screwfix to develop and integrate a range of advanced interactive digital media solutions designed to streamline the in-store customer experience across numerous locations.
Our Approach
The range of digital media touch points includes new Click & Collect Kiosks - designed to allow a customer to ‘check-in’ using their ID, choose one or more orders to collect and receive a printed confirmation of their request - together with a digital product browser and order point, designed to replace traditional paper-based product browsing and order assembly. Customers can search the entire product catalogue, check local stock-levels and create an order, which is then sent automatically to the Point of Sale system for pre-picking, payment and collection. All orders and their pick status (including click and collect requests) were displayed on a real-time departure board style display, allowing customers to see their order move through the queue in real-time.
Both interactive applications are fully integrated with the client’s legacy stock and transactional systems, providing a modern in-store digital media experience, without adding to the complexity or requiring change to the existing
infrastructure.
The Outcome
The digital touch points allowed each branch to operate much more effectively, reducing queues, speeding up each transaction, minimising keying errors and keeping customers informed second-by-second of their order’s progress through the process.
