Screwfix customers are busy tradespeople who need quick service and high availability of tools and construction products. Since 2014, Pixel has been working closely with this multi-channel retailer, to develop and support a range of advanced interactive solutions across their network of stores.
What we did
We designed and developed interactive digital applications to streamline the store operations and increase the speed of a typical customer journey.
The digital touch points allow each branch to operate much more effectively, reducing queues, speeding up each transaction, minimising keying errors and keeping customers informed second-by-second of their order’s progress through the process.
The range of digital media touch points included click & collect kiosks - designed to allow a customer to ‘check-in’ using their ID, select the orders to collect and receive a printed confirmation of their request, sending a message to the back of house system to alert the warehouse operatives that an order needed to be picked.
In addition, a digital product browser and order point was developed, designed to replace the traditional, paper-based product browsing and order assembly of Screwfix customers. Using this touch application, customers can search the entire Screwfix product catalogue, check live local stock-levels and create their order, which is then sent automatically to the POS system for pre-picking, payment and collection. In some sites, orders and their pick status (including click and collect requests) were displayed on a real-time departure board style display, allowing customers to see their order move through the queue in real-time.
How we did it
The interactive applications are fully integrated with Screwfix’s legacy stock and transactional systems via API, providing a modern in-store digital media experience without adding to the complexity of their existing back-office architecture or requiring changes to infrastructure.
