Le Palais

A showstopping multi-technology venue for work and play

Murat Retail Management (MRM), part of Groupe Deromedi, wanted the refurbished Le Palais to be a state-of-the-art destination unlike anything seen in France before. Pixel added the digital wow factor by designing, creating and installing a selection of bespoke fully managed, LED and LCD displays featuring live streaming together with background music service for this entertainment, dining and coworking complex in Nancy.

What we did

We installed a comprehensive range of digital media solutions into the newly renovated complex, creating a blend of visual, audio and interactive experiences for customers, visitors and staff.

Within a primary window of the location, a transparent LED was installed, providing passing traffic with a taste of the offer, encouraging footfall and increasing visibility and recall.

At the entrance foyer, a 2-metre diameter bespoke LED globe hosting a range of dynamic content – created by the in-house Pixel studio – ensures visitors understand they’re entering a different world as soon as they step through the door. As with all of our managed solutions, the globe is updated remotely with custom content promoting events and sports fixtures happening inside and outside the venue – like a tennis ball for the Roland-Garros!

The main food court features a bespoke shaped large format LED wall, which again features custom content, designed specifically for the unusual form-factor. The wall features a variety of content types, including automatically updating sports scores and news headlines. The venue was provided with the ability to quickly change the content channel at the flick of a smart button, to allow them to switch between live, streaming television (for big events such as football tournaments and cycling) and more general infotainment, atmospheric and marketing content.

A second large format LED wall, this time in a more conventional 16:9 aspect ratio, provides sports-viewing and high-impact video game playing capabilities outside of the main food court.

Several of the meeting rooms in the building were also equipped with AV facilities, to allow high-quality conferencing and presentations.

Finally, a touch screen controlled, multi-zone background and foreground music system was installed, using the Spotify for business licensed music service,  to provide stimulation for all  the senses.

How we did it

The bespoke LED globe was large, heavy and quite delicate, requiring careful handling. We brought in specialist transport expertise, hiring a crane to move the globe into place. Our main challenge was in the safe manoeuvre of the equipment through the venue’s doors with only a few centimetres of tolerance. Our engineers also fabricated a supporting bracket to fix the transparent LED window display to the ceiling, ensuring the installation was safe and aesthetically professional.

The content for all displays required several weeks of work across the various disciplines within our team - everything was created from scratch, with 3d animators, motion graphics and illustrators all having a hand in the production.

A project of this complexity and scale faced inevitable logistical challenges and changes to project scope. We remained flexible and responsive, incorporating extra equipment as and when needed and adapting solutions, all while adhering to tight timelines and staying within budget.
