With over 2,200 stores and 100 beauty halls nationwide, Boots is the UK’s leading health & beauty retailer. As part of its Beauty Reinvention initiative, we refreshed Boots digital estate to help attract new partner brands and allow them to digital augment the promotion of their products. The project also introduced consistency across stores, improving and modernising the store formats while providing Boots with control over the customer experience.
What we did
Pixel Inspiration has worked with Boots since 2019 on this nationwide digital rollout with three key priorities:

Expanding digital infrastructure to enhance the in-store experience.

Managing digital creative assets to ensure Boots maintains control over the retail environment.

Implementing retail media solutions, allowing Boots to leverage its spaces for monetised content.
The project also included the creation of several “stores of the future”, such as the 11,200 square foot Boots Beauty at Battersea Power Station – the brand’s first dedicated beauty destination – and its first Irish flagship in Cork.
How we did it
The first task was the introduction of consistency and structure to digital inventory across the existing estate. We migrated over 900 media players and displays installed across 30 stores into our support service, providing centralised remote content scheduling, management and 24/7 support.
In 2019, 36 new beauty brands were introduced to Boots beauty halls, including Fenty Beauty, Florence by Mills, Morphe and The Ordinary, with new premium brands joining each year since. We support Boots with the onboarding of new brands, helping them to take full advantage of the digital capabilities at hand.
Alongside high street, shopping centre and flagship locations, we installed and continue to manage and support content and digital infrastructure at Boots’ airport locations. Pixel engineers hold permanent security passes at 12 major UK airports, making installation and support of the digital assets at these locations much more efficient. These exceptionally busy locations include some impressive large format LED store fronts.
We also support Boots in its ambitions to integrate digital solutions into other parts of the business, including healthcare and Boots opticians eye care.

We are focusing on expanding digital integrations into other store departments while reinforcing Boots’ position as an innovator in digital retail.
